• This course examines the role of first responders/public safety personnel in the context of potential confrontational or use of force situations as well as techniques that can be used during a conflict to prevent physical and/or emotional harm. Learn to identify the elements and techniques of an effective de-escalation system and apply the system as a tool to de-escalate volatile situations. Learners will also be better equipped mentally to make critical decisions under stress and minimize the use force. 24 Instructional hours. These continuing education courses are not included within the scope of the Remington College’s ACCSC institutional accreditation. The Public Safety courses are offered online only and not through any residential campus.
  • Human trafficking is a crime that involves exploiting a person for labor, services, or commercial sex. It exists across the globe, in all communities, and all forms of labor. Community policing provides a promising roadmap to tackling human trafficking with the emphasis on problem solving, building partnerships, and shifting the organizational culture and structure. In this course learners will gain an understanding of the complex nature of the crime of human trafficking, or trafficking in persons, as well as multidisciplinary approaches to address these crimes, and how to identify and combat the crimes. 16 Instructional hours.
